Family Self Sufficiency
The Family Self-Sufficiency program is a voluntary five-year program that assists Section 8 participants in becoming financially self-sufficient and independent of subsidized housing. Each active participant earns an escrow account that can be used towards the development of their goals upon completion of the five-year term. The Family Initiatives Coordinator, Iris Santiago, works one on one with motivated participants, helping them overcome barriers in order to reach their personal goals, such as higher education, job training and placement, and homeownership. Program Orientations are conducted on the 2nd Saturday of every month. Call 203-337-8951 to register For public housing residents, Ms. Santiago is available for budget and credit counseling.
